Care Guide

Materials

Using top quality natural materials, all items are carefully made by hand. Each piece begins with hand dyeing the finest New Zealand merino wool and silk, which is then felted by hand. Slight variations and irregularities are inherent to the materials and the process, and are present in every piece, part of what makes each item special.

Care & Laundering

Felt is a very durable fabric and, with gentle care, will last you for many years to come.

Wool is naturally water resistant, so wearing a felted piece in the rain should not be problematic. It will have a greater degree of water resistance if it is a thicker piece that is more tightly felted. A piece that is mostly silk, without much wool, will likely not be water resistant, but it will not be harmed by getting wet. All dyes are fast and the colour will not change with washing.

Pilling is a natural characteristic of wool, and all wool will pill to a certain degree. This mostly happens in places that have the most contact. Pills can be removed by gently shaving the piece using a razor or shaver designed to remove pills.

Scarves, Wraps, and Garments

Hand wash gently in cool water, with minimal agitation. Any type of soap may be used. Gently wring out and roll or press in a towel to remove excess moisture. Lay flat to dry.

Hats

Hand wash gently in cool water, with minimal agitation. Any type of soap may be used. Roll or press in a towel to remove excess moisture.

Block the shape by putting it on your head and gently reshaping as you wish. Take the hat off and let it air dry in this shape.

Note: Blocked hats, such as Fedoras, should not be washed in the above manner as they will lose their shape. You can spot clean with a wet cloth as necessary. Hats can be steamed over a kettle and gently re-shaped, if necessary.

Wall Hangings

The Shag Anemone Wall Hangings can be shaken or vacuumed to remove dust, as they are quite durable. Washing the fibre with cold water is possible but not ideal due to the wooden backing; spot cleaning with a wet cloth as necessary is optimal

Laser cut wall hangings can be spot cleaned with a wet cloth as necessary.
